Code: Select all
Greetings Denizens of our Donut!
It's less than 24 hours until the Thanksgiving Event
begins! As announced previously, here are the start
and end times for the event.
Start Time: Tuesday, November 21, 2017 - 06:00am
End Time: Friday, December 1, 2017 - 06:00am
Now, some details about the actual event itself.
It's not your typical turkey hunting event. Instead,
you will all be turkeys this time around. Once the
event begins, you will find wardrobes in each common
room. Simply <take> a turkey costume from it and
you're ready to begin.
Once you've donned your costume, you will need to
act like a turkey - more specifically, you will need
to <puff> up your feathers first when you encounter
an NPC, and then say to them, "gobble gobble!" Note
that you have to say it to each NPC specifically, and
it simply won't do to broadcast a general gobble to
the entire room.
There are many ways to win prizes for this event.
Notably, when you <score gobbles>, you will see the
different categories. Simply score the highest in
any of those categories and you'll receive a reward
at the end of the event.
For the 82 of you who donated pearls to the museum to
get this event started, thank you! As a reward, you
will receive a minor bonus for every turkey mating
ceremony that you initiate.
Happy Turkey-ing!
Petros
PS. Note that while you will only see your own scores
for now, there will be an event-wide scoreboard
available in the middle of the event. Stay tuned!

If it's true only top players in any one category will get xp, given numbers posted on Discord already, I have to say, I don't see the point (given I have a job and don't bot). If you really want participation, how about giving static goals (like 500 unique NPCs, or whatever) for some xp. And of course give bigger xp for the competitive factor. But as silly and fun as it is, it's not so silly or fun that I want to do it 10,000 times just to have a shot at almost getting xp.

To be clear... you get general xp for every gobble. So it's a fun way to earn XP in a different way.
Additionally, there are prizes (both general and quest exp) granted for the top earners in each category. There are currently 17 categories (or ways to win). I'll be posting a note about this shortly to make this more clear.
Finally, you do get a chance at an imbue stone, as offered by our Keeper.

So if I participate, but don't make it to the top I don't get QXP?

To clarify, top means you make it into the Top board in the <rankings> command. That means there are 170 slots to win something. Considering only about 60 people have participated so far, I'd say you have a pretty good chance to win something.

Any news regarding lags? It's nearly impossible to play.

Yes, the log is due to the event. I will be putting a fix in later this evening to address the issue.

Thanks

I suggest turkey hunting season to reduce the gobbling strain on the server!
