I'm a little confused about guilds. If I join the Gardeners of Gont, do I need to resign from my current guild, The Academy of Elemental Arts? Also, how do I decide on whether craft or layman membership is best suited for me? I've read https://www.genesismud.org/craftGuilds.php but I'm not sure I've quite grasped it.

You can be a member of one occupational guild, one layman, one racial and a craft guild.
So you dont have to choose between craft or layman there. Some guild take up both occ & layman slot tho.
