ME - 5 in 1 guild

Post by Rhaegar » 18 May 2010 18:52

This is a pretty simple idea since many people are asking for various occ guilds in ME, why not create just one that would encompass them all?

Main guild name:
The Alliance

Guilds included:
Dwarven Warriors
Elven Warriors
Riders of Rohan
Soldiers of Gondor
Knights of Dol Amroth (as an additional, optional layman branch for Soldiers of Gondor)

Differences:
Some skill differences, especially in weapons training.

Common skills:

appraise enemy
defence
parry
special attack

Dwarven Warriors:

axe
club
blindfighting or block?

Elven Warriors:

sword
polearm
missiles

Riders of Rohan:

sword
polearm
riding

Soldiers of Gondor:

sword
polearm
axe

Knights of Dol Amroth:

riding
additional special?

What do you people think? It should be a simple guild, easy to access and making many people happy ^_^

If it's all standard fighter guilds anyway, why not just make a club for each branch, and let the club have a special description that turns the standard Mercenary special into something more fitting. It would still do basically the same behind the scenes, but it will look differently.
That way you can just join the Mercenary guild, hide your title, join a club, and voila! You're now have what you want without the need to code much at all.

Ofcourse then it'd be cooler to have a little gathering hall for each and some emotes etc. But that's all icing on the cake, and with the ability to make your own emotes already available in the game, then players can do much themselves as it is. Just look at the Beregrond army thingymajig...(I forgot the name of that good Middle Earth army, that was started by players as a roleplaying club).

Dagarim Aran. I know, I'm one of them :)

Anyway, it just shows the need for such thing. The club is a good idea, but it should be limited to good-aligned players somehow, and that goes against the merc policy.

Well, see the Mercenary guild as a skill-delivery system rather than an actual guild.
The Mercenaries have no restriction on who can join race-wise or alignment-wise, but a club can have all kinds of restrictions. So you don't need to place the restrictions on the OCC guild (Mercenaries), but can just place them on the clubs, to distinguish them in whatever way you want. :)

Hey Rhaegar, give me credit for the idea :x

But you left out Bounders of the Shire and the evil side of things

I don't think the club idea would work as one of the benefits of being in a guild is earning rank and gaining more responsibility and power. Guild leadership then has power over other players within the guild and are able to keep them in line. I don't see how that would work in an untaxed club

Thinking about it more, we could really just have two occupational guilds in Middle-Earth... the Free Peoples and the Forces of Sauron. The Rangers and Nazgul would be the 'special forces' of each side, picked from the top ranks of the other branches

Who is asking for more OCC guilds? Why do we want more guilds when we have so few players to fill them? We have so many empty guildhalls... why add more?

I do like the idea of having several types of guilds all in one though... To make guildhalls alittle more filled with people. I think for instance Dragonarmies should be that way, instead of two separate guilds which with our playerbase isnt so good.

But if so, why not ally the current guilds a little closer with an "alliance" system instead of more guilds? This has been discussed several times earlier so I am not gonna repeat it all again. But alliances would be cool.

It is true that more guilds would diversify the population. But at the same time, I think that I'm not playing the game but I'm playing my character, and the more ways of customizing, fine-tuning, tailoring and what not I have with it, the more I can get out of it.

Ooooo Cherek. I think combining guild halls would be an incredible idea.

Move knights, neidar, archers closer together, maybe a big complex with seperate branches for each guild.
move blue and red together.

siiiiiick. possiblities are bountiful.

Terrible idea with knights and neidar.

They are 2 different things which has got nothing to do with eachother.

The DA's are different as they lie door to door, and are both dragonarmies.
I don't understand why they ever were 2 different guilds to begin with.

Only guilds that share a theme, should be brought together. I don't see much of the same theme in knights and neidars.
