Hello all,
As you may be aware, we've been discussing what to do about death for a
while now on the official forums. You can catch up on the thread, here:
https://www.genesismud.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2557
One of the options being considered is to reduce the death penalty from
20% down to 5%. This would mean on death you lose only 1/20 rather than 1/5
of your total non-quest experience. If we did this, the proposal is to
remove recovery, as part of that. So ... death hurts less, but recovery is
no longer available, so there is still some pain involved.
This has two very serious immediate rammifications:
1. I have closed the attic of the Sparkle AG. It would be just
totally wrong to allow people to dump large portions of their exp
with the presumption that recovery is available, and then remove
recovery. So ... right now, everyone is stuck with their stats as
they are. Guild-hoppers, you'll have to earn your guildstat the way
Grandpa did back in the old days.
2. This proposal is being seriously considered. Therefore, if you have
a death to recover from - NOW IS THE TIME. I will not make a decision
on this for at least 2 weeks, to give everyone a last shot at using
recovery. Nothing will be implemented on it until February 14th.
In the spirit of fair warning,
G.
