Maybe I will, maybe I wont.. what do you think of THAT!? :P

I dont understand what the problem of more levels is, or people grinding more to grow.. that isnt the problem, the problem is underlying in the exp system

But me for one dont care about people growing huge.. I think what people really have a problem with is some players just attacking lower level players for no or very little reason just because they are much bigger.. that is something the wizzies should look more into.. maybe create a logging of things that some accused players do

Tbh, if you've gotten above expert or so, you can probably get away, its the twats that attack adventurers and such for idiotic reasons that are the problem on the pvp point :P

Ehum. Legends have been known to be killed in about 5 seconds. And no, not by mages. Not by team gank. Not naked. 1vs1 combat. Before the imbue change though, but still. A fully equipped myth vs an expert is like squashing ants.:)

Anyway, I get your point. Yes, often it's possible to run run run run and get away, but as a new player running is your only option for a long time. How much time should someone have to invest in a game before they have a chance of playing with the old players? That is, actually fighting back? 1 year? 2? 5? Right now I think we're looking at around 3-5 years, at least. We still don't know as no new player has reached beyond titan I think?

But that's the question we've discussed for a decade at least. Can you have more or less unlimited growth and free for all PVP in the same game? Well, you can, since we have it. Does it work? Depends on who you ask I guess, but since I've been AoP I can safely say that nothing causes as much anger and grief in Genesis as our PVP system does. In my opinion the size differences is the main reason that most PVP encounters are extremely one-sided, and that's rarely fun for anyone.

Oh aye, hence why killing someone under Veteran or so, if you're above ofc, should be severely punished, no slap on the wrist crap first, unless you have a damn good reason :P
Someone asking you to check your ego is far from a good reason :o

This 100% unrestricted pvp stuff when we have alot of new faces will be scaring em off, especially since we have a bunch of wankers that do this now and then for idiotic reasons :P

I remember back in the 90s I had a friend who got hooked on Genesis BECAUSE he was nailed by a champion when he was only a beginner... i remember it like it was yesterday...

"It was a gloomy evening in the university computer labs... the sound of dial-up modems pinging morosely while dutiful software engineer students plugged away with last minute ADA code assignments to finish... but not one labber. He, a young Kahedan dwarf, "telnetted" to 198.23.blah.blah, and peacefully minding his business outside the store in Sparkle when darkness engulfed him, fangs tore in to him, and before he could type "axekick" he was before DEATH, shortly to be relieved from the afterlife by Lars..."

Short of it was Mysterion, then a feral vampyr, was rampaging through Sparkle on what was one of his irregular (but not infrequent) newbie slaying outings. It was my friends first experience of PVP. It shocked him, outraged him a bit, but also intrigued him... and it was that which was what infected him with the Genesis bug and hundreds of days of gameplay.

Granted, times have changed and the population needs to be nurtured before being exposed to what i call the "Mysterion experience". Still, how much should they be wrapped in cotton wool?

I dont think people should be wrapped in cotton, in general I think people are too nice to newbies to be honest. We mostly lack the villains of old, and people like Monika, Ugelplect and others were part of the reason I got hooked on Genesis. However, back then you could go from beginner to champion in half a year or so and then fight back. It did not take me that long before I could participate and fight against these villains and have a chance at winning. Now you need to suffer the "Mysterion experience" for a number of years first, over and over again, if you want to be part of PVP or a guild that's involved in PVP.

This problem is actually not that hard to solve, but it requires a recode of the brute system.

Since I started playing the combat-system (more noticable the hit-messages) has changed. Mortal levels have increased. Stats themselves have increased. Progress-levels have increased. Health-levels have increased. We've even got an indicator of how far we're from the next mortal-level.

Now, what has really stood still is the brute. If one increases the amount of brute-levels, while increase the amount of exp recieved on the lower levels and decreased the amount on the very top we would get the result that smaller players would grow bigger, faster. And bigger players would grow more or less the in the same pace, if constructed properly.

To ensure that the bigger players do not get angry, claiming another nerf, one must make sure that the amount of grind neccessary from novice to myth remains the same, but the speed up to let's say champion-legend is halved - details can ofcourse be both discussed and modified. Only an example guys!

This would also cure the game of the so called "gap".

Big recodes have happened in the past. They will happen in the future. This one is totally viable, and makes the game more or equally enjoyable for all - and even Ody with his 100-odd days could become legend if he only stopped yapping for a few days. :)

Nils, good idea

I find it funny that Ody sits on his ass roleplaying, never doing a thing to try to grow, and whining about it being impossible to grow.. if he isnt roleplaying he is taking newbies to hunt something way too small for him to gain experience to try impress the young ones by the fast kills :)

I keep dying from mistakes while questing mostly.. I dont think it is hard to grow, just my own stupidity keeps me from it

Anyhow, I like Nils idea, I can´t really see a problem in it other than me having less to work for it.. kinda takes away the feeling of having to work hard to become a true Myth
