Aye! Thems the titles
Two branches etc, loved that concept as a whole to it

Avatar: I've told you my stories of woe regarding the Keepers of Telberin in drunken hazes many times over. I suppose your own hazes causes you to forget...or it something else, old man?
What little I remember about them and their closing is a combination of the guildwizard (Shiva) and my own talks about the guild and what it was meant to be and become. Some is honestly a bit blurred after 20+ years.
The racial guild
The Keepers of Telberin (KoT) was two branch racial guild for elves only (and no humans or half-elves or other "races not of the grace of Telan-Ri" would ever be allowed). It was founded around very stark, somewhat haughty high-elves that lived in the Capital city of Emerald, Telberin. It was good aligned and had decent combat and magic skills (at the time) for a racial guild. There were very strong rules and cohesion in the guild for a racial guild too. The Protectorate was dedicated to protecting the city (Paladins in spe) and the Order of Telan-Ri was maintaining the Faith of the Lord of Light (Telan-Ri), assisting the Protectorate and working to oppose the Lord of Darkness (Val-Shoreil) and his minions (namely the Vampires who at that time was an Emerald based/themed guild). A bit funny being in a racial guild protecting a city, especially when Mysterion or Louie came by and wanted to make the city guards their snack of the day..
There was one more title that Gorboth didn't include (how dare he forget it?!?!?!). Each branch had a leader. The Protectorate had something like the "High Keeper of the Protectorate of Telberin, Regent of the Keepers of Telberin" and I think the Order of Telan-Ro had the "High Priest of the Order of Telan-Ri, Regent of the Keepers of Telberin". The two Regents were tasked with working together and their office was very RP oriented only (it was a racial after all). Hektors entire background story and concept as a character is built on him being a noble born of Telberin and I enjoyed the whole Regent stuff a bit too much I think
Why was it closed?
Well mainly because it was really intended to be an occupational guild and not a racial and secondly because sometimes wizards throw the decks
There have been 4 versions of Emerald that I know.
"Old Emerald" existed until late 94 I think, with the first vampyrs, (not vampires) and had some old quests and items that are legends even to the myths of today
"Intermediate Emerald" existed from 95-00ish Domain consisting mainly of big forests, an elven city to the south, the vampires (not vampyrs) guild, the wedding chapel and a smaller version of Telberin. (this is also the timeline when the KoTguild existed).
"Island Emerald" 00 until Gorboth opened recoded Telberin (Gorboth help me out on the date?) A small dock island where you could find the Vampire (2nd and 3rd installment) guildhome and the wedding chapel only.
"New Emerald" (What we see today).
I was contacted by Shiva back in the late 90'ies. He wanted to open up the KoT as he had intended. A two branch occupational/racial elven only guild. The Protectorate would be Paladins and the Order of Telan-Ri Clerics (at that time only MMs existed as an occupational casters - the Mystics had closed, the first WoHS had closed, the Walkers playtest stopped) So that was pretty exciting. We wrote the rules, the concept of the guild, and he had picked Hektor for Clerics and Thyrus for Protectorate as playtesters.... After half a years work..Shiva told us we were about one month from launch... (I was a bit excited) and then - Shiva decided Emerald needed a revamp again (pun intended) and the whole domain shut down (the theme story being the land had experienced barbarian raids and floods) with only a small dock left. A slightly jading experience
The racial guild still existed for a short time being after Emerald shut down, but then it was transformed into a memorial where the members who are still around have one of their guild items in their inventory.
This is the note the guild NPC sent us :
As a layman guild - I'd hope the wizards then made it elf only and with the same strong restrictions and demands of the past. But thats me being a nostalgic
As an occupational guild? Dont you dare. If it was hard to choose between EG and KoT racials- Imagine if I had to choose between SCoP and KoT occ?
Anyway - thanks for the trip down memory lane. If I hadnt had all those wiped HDs lying about, I could have been more accurate.

So, I would love to see the guild return, but I'd hate having to choose between that and EG> read 1

In light of the terrorist attacks which have devastated the main cities of
Emerald, His Majesty has wisely decided to reorganize the ranks of the
Keepers of Telberin so that it can be better prepared to oppose this new
menace. While it pains His Majesty to do so, he has declared it necessary
to discharge all reserve members of the Protectorate and Order. His Majesty
extends his deepest sympathy and apologies for this unfortunate shift, and
he also expresses his sincerest thanks and admiration for your contribution
and sacrifice for the kingdom. Each of you will continue to be welcomed and
honoured throughout the land as a distinguished veteran of the KoT and a
faithful servant of the King and Telan-Ri. Your devotion will be remembered
always.
In service of His Majesty,
Sir Vilgurn, Royal Overseer of the Keepers of Telberin

Lawful evil - conform or die.

Hektor:
You said it. I tend to forget things, especially after having imbibed the massive amounts of alcohol we usually do at those times
Thanks for the clarification

Re: Holy order of Telberin
The adamantine katana or something was from first emerald. Best sword quest item saving?
Closed around time I started, remember ppl telling me about how badass it was.
Same ppl that told me re albi rats teeth could be made into epic daggers.
And I guess the raven beaked warhammer, regular drop, smashed armours. Was from intermediate emerald?
Never went there back then.
I remember the huge elf at island emerald with his cool looking polearm, was about myth size so pretty much unkillable back then.
I think that Emerald disappearing repeatedly is the main thing stopping newer players being able to get up to the quest exp cap.
There were other small quests I can remember that disappeared, ones in Gar, Mirkwood Flood Trollshaws etc.
But Emerald was the huge ones?
Hope as time goes on more of the cool Emerald stuff can be re introduced...
Even. . . Vamps! Muhahaha

Khiraa had some pretty neat titles too. The code is still in Raumdor. Care to be equally lenient?gorboth wrote:You mean these?Draugor wrote:I remember them having some awesome titles, really liked thoseI suppose this guild could be re-opened ... The most memorable one was the spider quest.
IMO one of the coolest quests there ever was.
Not big, but very very scary and a lot of fun.

Khiraa would need a complete recode though, while Keepers of Telberin would not.
The views posted by me on this forum is not the views of the character Amberlee in-game.
If you ask for my opinion here, you will get MY opinion, not that of my character.

Don't think that's the issue here, but hey! - Way to spoil my sarcasm!Amberlee wrote:Khiraa would need a complete recode though, while Keepers of Telberin would not.
